In the R&D team, your mission will be to:
study, propose and support vessels improvements in connection with but not limited to hull structure, propeller, rudder and lashing rules in the aim of achieving emission reductions and improve operational margin.
Missions et responsabilités
Responsibilities:
During this mission you will oversee:
Following the retrofit projects of the own fleet and assist the chartering department (redaction of specification, drawing approval, documents and certifications follow up, technical support to the fleet, drydock and fleet upgrade team…).
Supporting the fleet and fleet upgrade dpt to evaluate the criticality of any structural crack appearing on owned vessels (fatigue cracks, load cracks); writing the specification, selecting suppliers and following studies to define temporary / permanent repairs in agreement with vessel’s classification society; supporting the fleet upgrade and drydock department to perform these repairs, afloat or in dock.
Supporting the Newbuilding team and the fleet superintendents in case of vibrations issues; launching measurements campaign to assess the vibrations on the vessel and understand the root cause; setting corrective measures if necessary.
Supporting the Solution Department in evaluating the different lashing rules and their effect on the fleet cargo capacity but also vessels stability.
Creating a data base of structural issue, especially cracks, existing on the vessel by series/root cause/solution.
Defining area of improvement on BV/DNV-GL/ABS rules based on CMA return of experience.
Compétences et profil requis
Formation / Profil
MSC degree in marine engineering (ENSTA, Centrale, Mines, ENSAM…), with naval architecture experience and, preferably fleet support and/or project management experience in another company.
Knowledge required:
Naval architecture
Ship’s propulsion
Lashing
Structure and vibration calculations (FEM), fatigue knowledge
Class rules for steel vessel for container ships (BV, DNV-GL, ABS)
Class rules for lashing
Poss. conversion to Perm post.
